The Municipality of Valparaíso, a public institution dedicated to fostering cultural and creative industries, aims to promote the growth, recognition and sustainability of the local music industry. This initiative focuses on:

  1. Creating circuits and networks to connect artists, venues, festivals and other key stakeholders.
  2. Conducting specialized studies and consultancies to build a comprehensive understanding of musical audiences and cultural industries in Valparaíso.
  3. Developing a training program to enhance the professional skills of music workers, with a focus on gender equality and social inclusion.

How does this project contribute to the implementation of the 2005 Convention?

  • Promote cross-sectoral collaboration: The project enhances cultural policymaking and implementation by establishing forums for the music sector and facilitating agreements with public and private entities, aligned with the Valparaíso Creative City of Music Biennial Plan.
  • Develop informed cultural policies: By implementing studies, the project generates critical data on Valparaíso’s music audiences and industries. This supports the creation of policies, networks and campaigns to effectively promote musical diversity in the city.
