Advisory Committee for Works of Art

Since 1953, art and culture experts from across the globe have been proving their expertise and advice on the management of UNESCO's art collection.

Today UNESCO houses the largest collection of artistic heritage in the United Nations system, comprised of some 1,800 works of art.

Renovation of the Miollis Building

Under the auspices of the Steering Committee and the Headquarters Committee, the process of renovating the Miollis building was launched in 2016. Preserve the cultural heritage of the building and at the same time respond to ‘BBC 2009’ (the low-energy consumption label), such is the challenge of the makeover.

The renovation will aim at obtaining the environmental label ‘BBC 2009’, to lower the energy consumption level by installing the insulation system in façade as well as roof materials and through better regulation of heating facilities to increase the thermal performance. While totally replacing façade, we aim at preserving the original design.   The workspace will also conserve the spirit of the original design.  To this end, the Architect of the Buildings of France (ABF) will be involved in the design of the façade to ensure that the original architecture is respected.
