Developing and implementing robust policies and regulations to safeguard the rights of creators within the cultural and creative industries
In line with its commitment to modernizing its economy, as inscribed in the Economic Modernisation Vision, Jordan wishes to fully harness the untapped potential of its cultural and creative industries. In order to meet the contemporary challenges linked to the digital transition, the informality and the lack of funding mechanisms of the CCIs sector among others, more robust and modern regulatory frameworks need to be developed in an inclusive manner for the benefit of all.
The Ministry of Culture of Jordan is receiving support from UNESCO for the elaboration of a law to protect the rights of Jordan's cultural and creative industries stakeholders. The draft law will include elements related to intellectual property and fair remuneration of stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries, as well as mechanisms for resolving disputes in this area. The need to strengthen CCIs policies to stimulate market access and economic development in Jordan is also at the heart of this proposal.
