OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Social Media is spreading rapidly in Sudan with users ranging from young to older. And yet, this important means of communicating directly to our communities from the citizen to the politician to the influencer is missing from the Khartoum Office's communications portfolio. This creates a serious deficit in our capacity to inform and engage with the communities we serve. Our communications efforts are futher comprimised by the lack of and failure to produce compelling stories about the incredible and important work we are doing in Sudan for the office website. The selected candidate will be responsible for telling our story to the people of Sudan.
Work AssignmentÌý
Under the general authority of the Head of UNESCO Khartoum office, the contractor shall perform the following tasks, in addition to any other tasks assigned:Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýProduce and edit social media content for use on UNESCO-Khartoum’s social media channels, namely Twitter and Facebook in English and Arabic, and the UNESCO-Khartoum’s office Website in English and Arabic;Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýFollow trending topics within the community, as well as what is trending on the UN community’s social media accounts (relevant to Sudan) and engaging when appropriate with care and supervision;Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýDraft narrative text/messaging for social through storytelling, images and video;Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýDevelop and implement various social media campaigns, interacting with UNESCO-Khartoum’s sector/programme focal points;
•ÌýÌý ÌýProduce high quality web content, web stories and support the team in ensuring web content on UNESCO-Khartoum’s English and Arabic website is refreshed and reflects the orientation for human interest news and feature stories that best tell our story toÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý theÌý Sudanese people;Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýThe Consultant will develop a close working relationship with colleagues working on the social media platforms of the other UN agencies, funds and programs, seeking opportunities for collaboration;
•ÌýÌý ÌýParticipate in relevant strategic meetings for ongoing enhancement of UNESCO-Khartoum’s social media and web outreach; Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýProduce reports based on the native analytics relevant UNESCO-Khartoum’s posts and campaigns on social media, and the website.Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýOther duties as assigned within the framework of UNESCO-Khartoum’s social media and web platforms.Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýKnowledge of and capacity to use social media video editing platforms such as Wibbitz, iMovie, Kapwing or similar platforms highly desired.Ìý
•ÌýÌý ÌýCaptioning of videos highly desired.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
LANGUAGES•ÌýÌý ÌýExcellent knowledge (spoken and written) of English and/or ArabicÌý
EDUCATION•ÌýÌý ÌýCompleted Secondary, technical and/ or vocational education (Degree will be an advantage)Ìý
