UNESCO Director-General deplores death of journalist Mubarak Musa Juma in Sudan

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, has deplored the death of journalist Mubarak Musa Juma in El Fasher, in the state of Northern Darfur, on 30 September 2024.

I deplore the death of Mubarak Musa Juma and call for a thorough investigation into the circumstances. Journalists and media workers are essential channels of information during a conflict and their safety must be ensured by all parties.

Mubarak Musa Juma freelanced for several news outlets. He was reportedly killed during an attack on El Fasher by an armed group.
