Biography

Pierre is an economist specialised in education. Prior to joining UNESCO, he worked for the UNICEF Office of Research (Innocenti) and the OECD. At Innocenti, Pierre contributed to the Teachers for All and the Women in Learning Leadership research projects, analysing teacher deployment and the role of female school leaders. At the OECD, he worked for the Policy Advice and Implementation and the PISA teams, supporting countries in developing evidence-based reforms to bridge the gap between policy and practice. His publications cover a wide range of topics, such as teacher allocation processes in African countries, the impact of female school leaders in South-East Asia, school as learning organizations and teacher job satisfaction in TALIS participating countries, or growth mindset and student performance in PISA participating countries.

Pierre has also conducted research at the French Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Evaluation of Public Policies in the areas of teacher careers, teacher health, affirmative action and access to higher education, and taught in the field of economics in Sciences Po, Paris Descartes, La Sorbonne and the University of Montréal. Pierre holds a PhD in Economics from Sciences Po Paris, and a Masters of Economics from the Paris School of Economics and the University of Montréal.
