The GEM Report's Director Manos Antoninis will join colleagues for a closed roundtable event in the margins of the Education World Forum, facilitated by Lewis Iwu, Purpose Union.

The event will feature exclusive new analysis from Economist Impact and Unilever, based on recent research across four key countries: Ecuador, India, Nigeria and Philippines.  is a new research initiative examining the economic and societal cost of neglected toilets. Findings released for the Education World Forum links poor toilet maintenance with higher levels of school absence and increased healthcare costs.

Inputs from the GEM Report will put the studies findings in the context of wider trends in global education; how Toilet Loss intersects with other measures of education access and learning outcomes and provide ideas for further research directions.
