It is well understood that good nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life is critical for an infant's physical and cognitive development. But what happens after that?

Emerging evidence shows that the "next 7,000 days" – from early childhood through to late adolescence – are of equal importance if a child is to reach their full potential. It is during this time that children are educated, go through puberty, and establish habits and behaviour patterns that can stay with them for life.
