To coincide with the 29th United Nations Climate Change conference (COP29) , a pivotal moment for climate action and accountability, the Global Education Monitoring Report, and will host a webinar bringing together young people from around the globe. The event is a key milestone in a youth led movement calling for climate change education to adapt.
Education is often overlooked in the fight against climate change. However, by equipping young people with knowledge and skills, they can become empowered changemakers and help address climate change now.
We need a seismic shift to mobilize the true potential of climate change education. now monitors green content in national curriculum frameworks and science and social science curricula. It shows that climate change education, where available, is inadequate and not motivating climate action.
The discussion will spotlight young people鈥檚 experiences of climate change education and answer the question: What do you not learn in school about climate change but wish you had?
Speakers will debate ways to enhance youth involvement and prioritize action for a shared, sustainable future by strengthening climate change education.
