UNESCO's report on the futures of Education will be presented in Temuco (Chile)
At the Main Hall of the Universidad Mayor of Temuco, the Regional Office of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago) will present on Thursday, May 25, the report "Reimagining our futures together: a new social contract for education."
The Spanish version of this report was published in cooperation with the SM Foundation. Its content was prepared by an international commission of education experts convened by UNESCO, and enriched with inputs from more than one million people worldwide. Its conclusions point to a paradigm shift in relation to knowledge, education, and learning, in a world immersed in processes of increasing complexity, uncertainty, and precarity.
With a horizon set for the year 2050, the report advocates for the promotion of education to foster fairer and more sustainable scenarios based on two fundamental principles: ensuring the right to quality education throughout life and strengthening education as a public and common good. With a cooperative and collaborative approach, this publication is an urgent call to decision-makers, school communities, and society in general to establish a new social contract in which education is a driver of transformation of our societies in a world whose sustainability is under threat.
