UNESCO discussed with national partners the current status and the future of TVET in Sudan

On 24th of August of 2015 the Khartoum office of UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor and Administrative Reform, the National Council for Technical and Technological Education, the Supreme Council for Vocational Training and Industrial Apprenticeship, and the Sudanese National Commission for Education, Science and Culture organized one-day discussion around the findings of the Report 鈥淭echnical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Policy Review Sudan鈥. The Report was produced under leadership of UNESCO, ED/PLS/YLS Section, with the participation of all mentioned organizations, and national and international experts.

Participants agreed that main challenges of TVET in Sudan could be expressed by the following items:
- Moving towards a comprehensive TVET Policy in the Sudan
- Reforming Governance and revisiting current duality of two separate tracks
- Improving quality and enhancing efficiency of existing TVET programs, staff and facilities
- Expanding access and addressing marginalization
- Providing career guidance and counselling
- Securing sustainable resources
- Enhancing TVET image
On 25-26 August the discussions around the problems of TVET in Sudan continued, resulting in UNESCO鈥檚 will to support the work of Sudanese authorities on comprehensive TVET Policy.
