UNESCO Director-General deplores the death of Mohammed Ali in Palestine

I deplore the killing of Mohammed Ali. I reiterate my call for the respect of the UN Security Council Resolution 2222/2015 on the protection of journalists, media professionals and associated personnel as civilians in situations of conflict and call for a full independent investigation into the circumstances of his death.

Mohammed Ali was killed in an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip on 20 October 2023. He was a journalist for Al-Shabab Radio.
UNESCO promotes the safety of journalists through global awareness-raising, capacity building and by coordinating the implementation of the on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
