Sub Regional Meeting on SDG 4: ‘Where Do We Stand?’

UNESCO Office, Jakarta and the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam co-hosted “The Sub-regional Meeting on SDG4 for Quality Education 2030” on 9 April 2019 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, engaging around 50 participants from UNESCO Jakarta Cluster Countries: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Timor-Leste.
The meeting served as a sharing platform where to expose the progress of each countries in meeting the targets of SDG4, including their political commitment and partnership, good practices, lesson learned and challenges as well as recommendations to advance the realization of SDG4.
The meeting was officiated by Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati Binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) in the attendance of Dayang Hajah Anis Faudzulaini binti Haji Dzulkiflee, acting Director General of Education, Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam. Dr Mee Young Choi, Head of Education Unit of UNESCO Jakarta, conveyed a welcoming remark on behalf of Director of UNESCO Office, Jakarta, and Dr Maki Hayashikawa, representing UNESCO Asia Pacific Regional Bureau for Education in Bangkok, delivered a key presentation on progress and achievement of SDG4 in the Asia and Pacific.
UNESCO Jakarta is working closely with the SDG 4’s National Focal Point in each countries to ensure the integration of SDG4 into their respective Education Sector Planning or Education Development Planning.
