Director-General urges investigation into killing of journalist Henry Vivanco in Ecuador
Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of UNESCO, has condemned the killing of photojournalist César Henry Vivanco Castro who was found dead in his home in Huarquillas, southern Ecuador, on 13 November.

I condemn the killing of César Henry Vivanco Castro. I call on the authorities to investigate the circumstances and motives of Henry Vivanco’s murder so as to establish if it was related to his work.

Henry Vivanco, a well-known photojournalist and writer, and a member of the national journalists’ union, the Federación Nacional de Periodistas, had last been heard from two days prior to the discovery of his body, which showed signs of violence.
