Director-General condemns killing of journalist Evariste Dja茂-Loramadji in Chad
The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has condemned the killing of community radio journalist Evariste Dja茂-Loramadji in the village of Sandana, some 600 kilometres southeast of Chadian capital N鈥橠jamena, on 9 February.
I condemn the killing of Evariste Dja茂-Loramadji. I call on the authorities to investigate the attack that claimed the lives of Dja茂-Loramadji and other civilians and bring those responsible to justice.
Evariste Dja茂-Loramadji was shot dead while reporting for a community radio, Radio Lotiko, on an attack by local herders on the farmers of his village. At least ten other people are reported to have been killed in the raid.
UNESCO promotes the through global awareness-raising, capacity building and a range of actions, notably in the framework of the on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
