Director-General condemns killing of broadcaster Francklin Tamar in Haiti
UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay has called for an investigation into the killing of radio journalist Francklin Tamar in the capital Port-au-Prince on 18 December.

I condemn the killing of Francklin Tamar. I call on the authorities to investigate this murder and urge them to take measures to improve the protection of journalists and enable them to carry out their socially important work in a free and safe environment.

Tamar, the host of two cultural programmes on Radio Solidarit茅 was shot by two unidentified assailants on a street near his home. He was the 9th journalist to be killed in Haiti in 2022.
