Establishing and strengthening efficient channels promoting knowledge-sharing, peer learning and collaboration is an essential component to ensure the implementation of standard-setting instruments. 

Collaboration within the UN system

UNESCO also acknowledges the importance of non-governmental organizations (NGOS), associations and the intellectual community in international cooperation and has built a network with organizations in its fields of competence including:

Collaboration with UNESCO Chairs programme

Launched in 1992, the UNESCO Chairs programme which involves over 850 institutions in 117 countries, promotes international inter-university cooperation and networking to enhance institutional capacities through knowledge sharing and collaborative work. UNESCO regularly engages with the programme particularly those working in the field of human rights.
