Our expertise

The UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan puts its technical competence at the service of innumerable projects and initiatives within the Organization鈥檚 thematic areas: education, sciences, tangible and intangible culture, communication and information. It also works to achieve and promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

Education

UNESCO believes that education is a human right for all throughout life and that access must be matched by quality. The Organization is the only United Nations agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education. It has been entrusted to lead the Global Education 2030 Agenda through Sustainable Development Goal 4. The UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan with its national partners implements a number of programmes and projects in areas of quality of education, improving curricula and supporting teacher training and the development of teaching materials, inclusive life-learning for all. UNESCO actively cooperates with the Ministries of Education (Ministry of preschool and school education, Ministry of higher education, science and innovation).

Communication and information

UNESCO actively undertakes various initiatives to promote freedom of expression, safety of journalists, access to information, media development, journalism education, and media and information literacy. Through these efforts, the organization aims to enhance the capacity of relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations and media professionals, and empower the media to assume a key role in fostering dialogue, democracy, and development.
