This book, framed within the United Nations International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022-2032), is aimed at all ages and seeks to invite reflection on the value of language and indigenous languages. The text is a bilingual co-edition in Mapuzugun and Spanish and aims to alert about the alarming disappearance of indigenous languages and call for their preservation and celebration.

"What Makes Us Human" develops its proposal through a guessing game, presenting throughout its pages the great diversity and breadth of human language. The intention is to sensitize readers to our ability to express ourselves and communicate with others, either through articulated sounds or other sign or writing systems.

Once launched, the book "What Makes Us Human" will be available in bookstores in Chile and on the Planeta Sostenible website. With its publication, UNESCO invites readers of all ages and from all countries to enjoy and share this illustrated book as a testimony of our diverse and shared humanity.
