New Horizons for Science Diplomacy

InsSciDE Concluding Conference
23-24 June 2022 | Paris
New Horizons for Science Diplomacy

The project for ‘Inventing a shared Science Diplomacy for Europe (InsSciDE)’ is winding up with a conference at UNESCO on 24 June on the theme of New Horizons for Science Diplomacy.

InsSciDE is a project of the European Union under its Horizon 2020 programme that has been researching the history of science diplomacy. The project has developed a range of resources to support European science diplomacy theory and strategy and facilitate policy action and training programmes.

At the conference, key takeaways and next steps will be presented; these will be based on the project’s four years of historical research, training activities and the co-launched legacy initiative of the European Union’s Science Diplomacy Alliance. A high-level panel will also discuss ongoing transformations in science and diplomacy, touching on the themes of open science, multilingualism and inclusivity.

Ahead of the event, attendees are invited to join us for a welcome breakfast in front of Room XI at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris where a digital exhibition will display case studies from the InsSciDE project on themes relating to global health, environmental challenges, heritage preservation, space exploration and more.

There is no entry fee and the conference is an open event. We welcome both early career and established professionals involved in science diplomacy, including academia, employees of governmental and non-governmental organizations working on the conference’s thematic issues, companies active in relevant areas and the general public. Interpretation will be available in English and French.
