The event will highlight the transformative achievements of the UNESCO-EU partnership in advancing inclusive cultural policies and fostering sustainable development through creative industries. Featuring insights from artists and policy makers, the event will celebrate the collaborations that empower cultural sectors globally, while looking forward to shaping future policies for cultural diversity ahead of the MONDIACULT 2025 World Conference on Cultural Policies.

The EU-UNESCO partnership has played a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the 2005 Convention, particularly in empowering countries to design inclusive policies for cultural and creative industries (CCIs). Over the years, this collaboration has focused on building regulatory frameworks, strengthening capacities, and fostering South-South cooperation to ensure CCIs act as drivers of sustainable development. The EU/UNESCO Expert Facility, established as part of this partnership in 2011, continues to provide vital technical assistance, offering expertise and fostering a community of practice to address emerging challenges in the sector.

This side-event will feature testimonials from partner countries and Expert Facility members, showcasing the impact of the EU-funded programmes in shaping participatory policies and long-term strategies for CCIs. Through these success stories, participants will gain insight into how peer-to-peer exchanges and tailored support have strengthened institutional capacities and policy-making processes.

Looking ahead to the MONDIACULT 2025 World Conference on Cultural Policies, this event will provide an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned, explore future directions for cultural policy, and celebrate the enduring partnership between UNESCO and the European Union. By highlighting evidence-based, inclusive, and participatory approaches to policymaking, it sets the stage for future collaboration that ensures cultural diversity remains a key driver of sustainable development and global cooperation.
