90%

of households in Argentina have access to the Internet

What is the current state of the Internet in Argentina?

Argentina’s digital landscape has seen significant progress, positioning the country as a leader in the digital transformation of the region. One of the highlights of this progress is the remarkable increase in Internet penetration, which has now reached 90% of households. However, this landscape is at a critical juncture where significant progress is met with substantial challenges. Ensuring universal access to the Internet and protecting digital rights are vital for the country’s growth. The comprehensive assessment carried out by the Center for Studies in Technology and Society (CETyS) of the University of San Andrés, using UNESCO’s ROAM-X indicators, underlines the importance of these issues.

The findings reveal that while efforts are being made to improve digital infrastructure and accessibility, disparities persist, especially in rural areas. This report not only sheds light on the current state of the Internet ecosystem in Argentina, but also provides a roadmap for future improvements, emphasizing the need for continued multi-sector collaboration and strong policymaking to achieve a safe and inclusive digital environment in Argentina.
