The contest aims to engage participants in exploring how education can address sustainability challenges through creative expression. The contest will start on 7 April 2025 (4.7 Day), as this is an emblematic date to celebrate SDG Target 4.7 following the same logic as the celebration of Pi Day every 14 March (3.14 Day).

Participants are invited to reimagine how education can tackle global sustainability challenges, such as climate action, equity, and inclusive education through chalk art. The SDG 4.7 Day education for sustainable development chalk art competition invites learners to transform a school space into inspiring canvas that highlights sustainability, education, and a better future for all.

Objectives

The SDG 4.7 day chalk art competition aims to:

  • Spark global conversations about how education can drive sustainable development.
  • Promote awareness of Education for sustainable development (ESD) through creative and approachable forms of expression.
  • Provide a platform for youth to advocate for stronger ESD learning in their country鈥檚 education system and express their ideas on education's transformative potential.

Theme

"Reimagine our education for a sustainable tomorrow" is the 2025 theme for the SDG 4.7 day ESD chalk art competition. Optional prompts to spark creative ideas:

  1. Depict the future you envision as a result of education that fosters global citizenship and inclusivity.
