Empowering journalism education institutions
Journalists and media professionals play a key role in development, democracy and good governance. Without well-trained and broadly knowledgeable journalists, societies risk falling behind due to a lack of reliable information, analysis, and opinion founded on evidence.
To this end, the IPDC's contributes to improving journalistic skills and practice in developing countries by upgrading curricula and syllabi in journalism schools. The initiative promotes international exchanges and acts as a platform for sharing pedagogical experiences to improve teaching, researching and practicing journalism.
Responding to a high demand in contextualized syllabi, IPDC’s coordinated Series on Journalism Education advances tools regarding how to address gender and fake news, cover climate change and terrorism, and see see journalism as an active field for development and civic media literacy.
