Global challenges compel the journalism landscape to adapt constantly. In 2007, UNESCO developed its first framework to assess the quality of journalism education institutions in Africa: the ��Global Initiative for Excellence in Journalism Education��.

In 2007, the IPDC first publication ��Model Curricula for Journalism Education�� came out under the ��UNESCO Series on Journalism Education��. Since then, the IPDC has developed education material in more than 30 languages.
