Background

The Summit will explore the gendered implications of AI, examining how AI technologies can perpetuate, exacerbate or, conversely, challenge existing gender biases, social norms and inequalities.

The session will be held under the aegis of the UNESCO Women for Ethical AI platform (W4EAI) and will address issues such as gender stereotypes in generative AI outputs; the representation of women in AI development, deployment and use; data; gendered inequalities in the AI labour market and start up financing; and the impact of AI on women's rights and opportunities.

By exploring both the risks and the potential of AI to promote gender equality, this discussion will aim to foster the creation of inclusive and equitable AI solutions that benefit all genders.

The discussion will be informed by the work that UNESCO is conducting in relation to gender-based resilience and women in AI, to be launched at the Summit.

The Summit will also see the launch of the outlook study on gender and AI and working papers ranging from finance to regulation to innovation.

The Summit will bring together leading female experts, policymakers, technologists, and advocates from around the world, aiming to develop an actionable plan to close the digital

gender divide, as well as to explore the intersection of AI, gender equality, and human rights.

During the Summit UNESCO will sign Letter of intent with ADECCO to create an alliance to collaborate on a groundbreaking project to mainstream gender perspective in online job advertisement.

It will be a unique opportunity to foster dialogue, share insights, and co-create collaborative strategies to ensure that the future of AI is not only innovative but also inclusive, equitable, and ethical.

Together, we are committed to shaping an AI landscape where women's voices, experiences, and leadership are at the forefront, driving the development of technologies that leave no one behind.
