UNESCO and CECC/SICA launches the "ODS4 - Educa Academy": a space for training and collaboration for educational inclusion
UNESCO San Jose, in collaboration with UNESCO Mexico, UNESCO Guatemala, and the Central American Educational and Cultural Coordination (CECC/SICA), is launching the "ODS4 - EDUCA Mesoamerica Academy for educational inclusion of all people throughout their lives" as an initiative to address the challenges of educational inclusion in the region.
The training process will last for five months and will be organized into six modules. The target audience includes technical teams from each of the participating countries, such as Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. Participation in this initiative will be recognized with a certificate provided by CECC-SICA, the Central American Parliament, UNESCO, and the SES Foundation (Argentina).
This academy seeks to strengthen capacities and generate learning networks on strategic issues related to the right to education. With a regional focus, solutions for educational exclusion will be explored, and collaboration among countries will be fostered.
The ODS4 Academy will focus on six thematic areas, which include inclusive, equitable, safe, and healthy schools; learning and life skills for work and sustainable development; school leadership, teaching staff, teaching, and the teaching profession; digital learning and transformations, artificial intelligence, and education financing.
Through weekly virtual meetings, expert conferences, and reading materials, participants will acquire knowledge and tools to improve strategies for educational inclusion in their respective countries.
It is expected that at the end of the academy, participants will have strengthened technical capacities and established networks and learning communities. Furthermore, the aim is to raise awareness about the importance of educational inclusion and foster collaboration in the education sector and with other key stakeholders.
The ODS4 Academy represents an opportunity to reimagine educational systems and progress towards the goals established in the 2030 Agenda. Through an approach based on social justice, equity, and cooperation, it seeks to ensure quality education for all people, thus contributing to sustainable development and peace in the Mesoamerican region.
