Safety of Journalists in Kazakhstan

About the project

The project "Kazakhstan - Assessment of the Safety of Journalists鈥 2022" aims to improve the capacity and awareness of Kazakhstan regarding freedom of expression, press freedom, safety of journalists (including women journalists), and access to information, both online and offline. The project also aims to reinforce the institutional capacities of duty bearers to monitor and report on the Sustainable Development Goal indicator (SDG 16.10.1 safety of journalists) through IPDC's Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism on the Safety of Journalists and the Danger of Impunity.

The project received support from UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) during its 66th meeting in June 2022. The project was submitted by the Adil soz International foundation on the protection of freedom of speech, with assistance from UNESCO Almaty.
