Creation of Fundo Cidadania pela Educa莽茫o (in free translation: Fund Citizenship for Education) will apply resources in the improvement of the infrastructure of schools and its devices and training of managers, among others.

A new proposal of fund raising from private sector was launched this Thursday (15 August, 2019). The initiative, called Fundo Cidadania pela Educa莽茫o (in free translation: Fund Citizenship for Education), will count on the partnership of UNESCO in Brazil (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and the  City Hall of Porto Alegre (RS, Brazil). It aims at raising resources to boost the education sector in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

During the launching event, which counted on the critical support and collaboration of local entrepreneurs, it was reinforced the need and relevance to invest in projects in the area of education, especially those related to early childhood education. In this sense, the credibility of UNESCO in Brazil is considered essential for the success of this initiative.

For the Director and Representative of UNESCO in Brazil, Marlova Jovchelovitch Noleto, it is essential to consider an inclusive education model. 鈥淲e want to guarantee that all children and young people are able to learn. We need to allow everyone to fit in the education quality idea,鈥 she highlighted.

The Fund has a target to raise 10 million reais. The amount raised will be invested in constructions and building reforms of community schools, in addition to promoting capacity building of education managers and improving tools. The objective of the Fund is to reduce the existing distance between suburban schools and the ones located in less wealthy neighborhoods.
