"Amplifying Voices: Celebrating Leadership of Persons with Disabilities in Accessibility in China"

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), observed annually on 3 December, provides a platform to highlight the achievements and challenges faced by persons with disabilities. This year's theme, "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future," underscores the importance of empowering individuals with disabilities to take the lead in shaping their own destinies and contributing to society. To commemorate this significant day, UNESCO, in collaboration with the UN Theme Group on Disability in China, jointly initiated a video campaign to advocate for the leadership of persons with disabilities in the realm of accessibility in China.  Our goal is to collect and compile short videos from persons with disabilities in China, showcasing their profound understanding and insights into the concepts of accessibility and inclusion.

We would also like to express our special gratitude to Lyv Shiming, President of the China Association of Volunteers for Persons with Disabilities; Li Qingzhong, President of the World Blind Union Asia-Pacific and China Association of Persons with Visual Disabilities; and Cai Cong from the One Plus One Disability Group, who have given strong support to this video initiative. Please watch the practical accessibility tips shared by these three advocates. We look forward to the final video compilation being widely spread on social media and other platforms to raise public awareness, inspire action, and highlight the leadership of persons with disabilities. Here, we call on more people to join our ranks to educate, inspire, and advocate for a more inclusive society. For specific content requirements, submission guidelines, and expected outcomes, please refer to the article published by UNESCO's official WeChat channel on 3 December: . We look forward to receiving your submission before the deadline of 31 December 2024.
