On the afternoon of the 16th August, the Introductory Webinar for the 2024 International 91麻豆国产精品自拍 (IYF) on Creativity and Heritage along the Silk Roads was successfully concluded. The main objective was to inform the applicants about the rationale and background of the 2024 IYF. The Introductory Webinar was attended by more than 200 young people around the globe, who passed the initial screening from a pool of more than 1,300 applicants for the 2024 IYF.

The Introductory Webinar, moderated by Ms. Zheng Cheng, Intersectoral Coordination Associate of UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, started with the overview of UN and UNESCO’s global Youth Strategy by Mr. Robert Parua, Programme Specialist for Education. He highlighted the pivotal role of youth in achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and underscored UNESCO's commitment to youth empowerment and its initiatives to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to drive positive change.

Ms. Guo Wei, Director for the Division of Sciences, Culture and CI, Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, in her opening remarks, reiterated the Chinese National Commission’s strong commitment to the 2024 IYF and conveyed her high praise and full support for the 2024 IYF. Highlighting the Forum’s objective and role in fostering youth engagement and cultural exchange, Ms. Guo emphasized China's commitment to World Heritage conservation and its support for young people in safeguarding Silk Roads heritage. The 2024 IYF, themed "Reimagining Our Heritage: Stories of Resilience and Change," aims to unite young minds from around the world to share ideas and innovations.

Alumni representative Mr. Hoodh Ibrahim of Maldives from the 2023 IYF made his presentation to share his memorable experiences from last year’s Forum. From field visits to engaging youth sessions, from the challenges of cross-cultural communication to the joys of teamwork, each story was imbued with passion and wisdom, inspiring every youth participant in attendance to pursue their own “heritage dreams” through the platform of 2024 IYF.

To give participants a first-hand experience of the host cities, the webinar also arranged “virtual tours” about Changsha and Nanjing cities. Representatives from the two cities, Ms. Liu Xiaoxi, an IYF alumna as well as a local Changsha girl, and Mr. Zhao Sifan, Chief for International Communications of Nanjing Literature Centre, offered lively virtual tours to the cities, showcasing the rich cultural and historical heritage of these two vibrant Chinese cities, also recognized as UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts and Literature. The tours highlighted the cities' unique attractions and modern developments, providing potential participants with a glimpse into the immersive cultural experiences awaiting them at the forum.

As the webinar drew to a close with a Q&A session, providing feedbacks to the most frequently asked questions by youth participants. As an annual youth forum initiated in 2017, the 2024 IYF will be organized during 22 to 27 September in Changsha and Nanjing, China.
