Inaugural meeting of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chair Programme in Egypt

UNESCO Cairo hosted the first-ever meeting of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs in Egypt. Representatives from 5 UNESCO Chairs and UNESCO Cairo representatives came together on May 14, 2023, eager to foster collaboration and make a positive impact.

Led by Dr. Nuria Sanz, Head of UNESCO Cairo, the meeting kicked off with warm welcomes and a reminder of the UNESCO Cities Platform (UCP)'s significance. Each UNESCO Chair presented an overview of their work, sharing exciting plans for joint initiatives. The room buzzed with enthusiasm and ideas.

Discussions soared as potential areas of collaboration took center stage. Protecting the environment, managing water resources, embracing quantum science, leveraging technology for heritage preservation鈥攁ll topics brimming with energy and innovation.

Training courses on women in sciences, community learning centers, and gender-water activities became top priorities. The chairs committed to future collaborations, sharing expertise and resources. Exciting opportunities for seminars, workshops, and conferences emerged, sparking imaginations.

Dr. Sanz closed the underlying event that Egypt's UNESCO Chair Programme is essential to accompany the effort of the Egyptian Authorities to accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda.
