III National Youth Water Meeting of Ecuador

From March 21 to 23, 2025, the city of Cuenca will host the III National Youth Water Meeting of Ecuador, a key event for articulating, strengthening capacities, and highlighting the role of youth in sustainable water management in the country.
Thanks to the joint organization of the Ecuador Water Network, the Water Fund for the Conservation of the Paute River Basin (FONAPA), and UNESCO Quito, this meeting aims to consolidate youth leadership in water management, promote the development of innovative projects, and strengthen cooperation networks among young people, institutions, and communities.
Towards a more inclusive and efficient water management
Since its establishment in 2023, Red Agua Ecuador has worked to highlight and strengthen the role of youth in water governance. In this context, the national meetings have served as a platform for training, coordination, and action for young people committed to water sustainability.
In its third edition, the National Youth Water Meeting will focus on innovation and leadership, promoting the development of concrete proposals aligned with the Ecuador Water Agenda and the recent publication "Rivers of Change: Forging New Leaderships in Water Management in Ecuador", developed with the support of UNESCO and the Andean University Simón BolÃvar.
Through participatory workshops, field visits, mentoring sessions, and discussion spaces, participants will enhance their skills and work on initiatives related to watershed restoration, sustainable water management, and policy advocacy.
Objectives of the meeting
The III National Youth Water Meeting aims to:
- Train 40 new young leaders through the Leadership School.
- Expand territorial representation of youth in decision-making spaces.
- Encourage the implementation of projects within the Ecuador Water Agenda.
This event provides a unique opportunity for young leaders to exchange experiences, strengthen their role in water management, and establish strategic alliances with national and international institutions and organizations.
