The training took place within the framework of the project "Silk Roads Heritage Corridors in Central Asia – International Dimension of the European Year of Cultural Heritage", funded by the European Union and implemented by the UNESCO Almaty Regional Office. In the long term, the project contributes to strengthening the contribution of culture to the sustainable development of the Central Asian countries, in particular through the development of tourism at Silk Roads heritage sites. All activities carried out under the project since 2018 aim to improve the livelihoods of communities in the region, including youth and women, through capacity building, job creation and income generation opportunities.

The event was held in an offline format in Almaty at the .

One of the training participants shared his feedback about the event.

Firstly, the training programme was carefully designed and covered a wide range of topics, including historical restoration methods, modern technologies and approaches, as well as regulatory requirements and international standards. The lectures were delivered by experts with many years of experience in the field of restoration, which allowed us to gain in-depth and relevant knowledge.

Especially useful for me was the study of real case studies, where different restoration strategies for famous World Heritage properties were explored. Practical sessions and masterclasses allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, which significantly improved my skills and confidence in applying them to real projects.

I would also like to note the high level of organisation of the training. Everything was thought out to the smallest detail: from convenient timetable and comfortable conditions of the training to providing the participants with the necessary materials and resources for training.

Summing up, I would like to express my gratitude to the organisers of the training for such an important and relevant initiative. This training not only enriched my professional knowledge and skills, but also inspired me to further develop in the field of restoration and preservation of cultural heritage. I am confident that the knowledge gained will help me to make a meaningful contribution to the preservation of historical and cultural values for future generations
