The Director-General meets the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia & Herzegovina

On 27 May 2013, the Director-General received H.E. Mr. Neboj拧a Radmanovi膰, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia & Herzegovina, at UNESCO Headquarters.

Warmly welcoming Mr Radmanovi膰, the Director-General expressed her great satisfaction at the current state of the Organization鈥檚 cooperation with Bosnia & Herzegovina. She said that the , r, had truly become a symbol of peace and international cooperation.

Mrs Bokova stated that UNESCO had been actively engaged, through its , in the promotion of regional dialogue and reconciliation in South-East Europe. She commended Bosnia Herzegovina for its participation in the regional travelling exhibit , inaugurated on 8 April 2013 in Ljubljana, and pointed out that this project as an excellent example of UNESCO鈥檚 objective to advance regional cooperation on the basis of their common history and heritage.

The Director-General affirmed UNESCO鈥檚 commitment to cooperate with Bosnia and Herzegovina in priority areas and welcomed the country鈥檚 intention to present new nominations to the UNESCO World Heritage List as well as to the Representative List of under the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Mr Radmanovi膰 underlined that the Organization鈥檚 presence and cooperation in the South-East Europe helped to promote a positive image of the region and its rich cultural heritage.

In this respect, he reiterated the importance of the regional summits of the heads of state and governments, which are annually held in cooperation with UNESCO. He thanked the Organization for its support to Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed appreciation on the work of the UNESCO Antenna Office in Sarajevo.
