Director-General condemns murder of journalist Mario Arturo Ortega GarcÃa in Guatemala

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has denounced the killing of Guatemalan journalist Mario Arturo Ortega GarcÃa, who died on 14 November, four days after he was shot by unknown assailants near his home at Escuintla, near Guatemala City.
I condemn the murder of journalist Mario Arturo Ortega GarcÃa. I call on the authorities to investigate this murder and make sure that justice is served. Journalists must be able to carry out their professional duties without fearing for their safety.
