The festival, held annually in Madrid, Spain, welcomes a delegation of young photographers from the Caribbean in its 2024 edition, thanks to the partnership between La Fábrica (the festival organizer) and UNESCO. This collaboration is part of the UNESCO programme Transcultura: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean, and the European Union through Culture and Creativity, funded by the European Union.

Representing the Caribbean region collectively for the first time, the following artists were selected through an open and public call:

  • Abdon Tzib, Belize

  • Betsy Montero, Dominican Republic

  • Clavia Aaliyah McClain, Bahamas

  • Corri Latapy, Trinidad and Tobago

  • Delton Barrett, Jamaica

  • Gabriel Turnquest, Bahamas

  • Ishan Amaro Ribalta, Cuba

  • Joe Abreu Feijo, Cuba

  • Jordan Issell Lopez Martinez, Cuba

  • Leyci Cardonet Herrera, Cuba

  • May Reguera, Cuba

  • Moník Molinet, Cuba

  • Olajuwon Scott, Trinidad and Tobago

  • Stephan Tyrel, Barbados

  • Wane Fearon, Jamaica

In line with the Perpetuum Mobile theme of this year's festival, the photographic work of the Caribbean artists will offer a multifaceted exploration of pressing issues such as cultural diversity, social activism and migration.

Through a carefully tailored programme of activities - including workshops, studio visits, portfolio reviews and mentoring - the young photographers will have the opportunity to learn, exchange and expand their professional horizons.

With funding of 15 million euros from the European Union, the UNESCO Transcultura programme provides opportunities for young Caribbean artists and cultural professionals through training, entrepreneurship, networking, cultural exchange and access to new markets.
