The Safeguarding Women’s Voices: Enhancing Gender-Responsive Safety Strategies program, led by the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) and UNESCO, aims to improve the mental resilience of journalists, particularly women journalists by enhancing their access to psychological support and resources to help mitigate the effects of online violence.

The program, led by the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) and UNESCO, aims to improve the mental resilience of journalists, particularly women journalists by enhancing their access to psychological support and resources to help mitigate the effects of online violence.

The IWMF will partner with Vinland Solutions to lead to identify and tackle the adverse effects of physical and online violence. 

The training seeks to ensure that journalists can continue to perform their vital role in democratic societies, free from violence and intimidation, by fostering gender-responsive policies, and facilitating access to mental health services.

How to apply

We are inviting clinical psychologists and/or psychiatrists to apply to this programme. 

Only practitioners from the following countries can apply for this opportunity:

  • Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, North Macedonia.
  • Bangladesh, Indonesia, Maldives, Pakistan, Philippines, Timor-Leste.
  • Burundi, Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Mali, Namibia, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda.
  • Iraq, Lebanon.

About the training:

  • The training will include presentation, open group discussions, and interactive exercises that allow the participants to incorporate their knowledge from previous clinical experience.
  • It will also cover topics described in the  and
  • Applications will be selected based on specific skills and competencies. Visit the website to learn more.
  • A total of 20 clinical psychologists and/or psychiatrists will be selected by March 24, 2025. 
  • Applications are available in English and Spanish.
  • Based on the practitioners selected, the IWMF will ensure that the training is accessible to the language abilities of the participants.
