UNESCO Global Youth Grant Scheme

The Global Youth Grant Scheme (GYGS) supports youth-led actions and research globally, and builds capacities of young people

Young people have ideas, creativity and determination.

The only things they often lack are funds and support.

UNESCO鈥檚 Global Youth Grant Scheme mobilizes resources to support young people around the world.

The Grant Scheme supports two categories of youth-led initiatives: research and grassroots actions. It covers a wide range of topics related to UNESCO鈥檚 areas of expertise. Grant Scheme projects can be implemented from the local to the global levels.

This support is provided through grants and capacity-strengthening opportunities during the implementation of the grantees' actions and research.

What Do We Fund?

Youth-led solutions with social impact. We support youth-led grassroots actions and innovations that address pervasive systemic issues and crises worldwide, as well as research led by young people resulting in policy-oriented recommendations to support youth development.

How Does It Work?

UNESCO and its relevant partners launch a call for applications. Funding ceilings are defined to correspond to different scales of action or research.

During the implementation of their projects, the grantees benefit from training and mentoring. Grantees also have opportunities to showcase their actions and research and gain visibility throughout the process.
