Description
The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Sarajevo's six-month project "Women for Watershed Revival of Una and Drina" has been selected for co-financing by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia with EUR 30,000. The project aims to empower women as leaders in environmental conservation and community development by cleaning up rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It advocates for gender equality, social cohesion, and sustainable practices, aiming for social benefits such as equality in employment, decision-making, and access to healthcare. The initiative seeks to transform environmental activism by placing women at the forefront, leveraging their unique role in community empowerment. Through collaborative efforts to restore rivers along the Una and Drina, the project aims to cultivate women leaders, bridge community divides, and advocate for broader social change, including equality in employment, decision-making, and access to healthcare, while promoting ecological well-being.

This Action is being implemented in Europe and Northern America, focusing on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is part of the Multistakeholder Coalition’s Working Group on Watershed focus for gender integration. It is intended to apply the : Countering social norms and stereotypes that may have negative effects on water access, use and inclusive decision-making.
