Description
The project "Stream Sisters: Empowering Women, Preserving Water in Bethlehem" has been selected in the Development Fund 2024 call for proposals and will receive financing from the MFEA amounting to €18,950. This project will offer the community the chance to explore new grey water technologies, which are currently unfamiliar in the region, and foster widespread interest and support.
Aiming to mitigate the effects of water scarcity in the Bethlehem area, the project focuses on raising women's awareness of the importance of grey water reuse in households. It seeks to educate them about the potential uses of grey water and train them in managing grey water treatment systems, thereby alleviating water shortages and positively impacting environmental protection. The initiative will be carried out in collaboration with local NGOs and government agencies. The local partner, Women of the Sun (WS), will lead efforts to secure additional funding for the project's growth and integrated implementation, contributing their part to the project's co-financing.
Geographic area, Thematic and Game-Changer
This initiative is being implemented in Northern Africa and Western Asia, with a particular focus on Palestine. It is part of the efforts led by the Multi-stakeholder Coalition’s Working Group on Capacity Development at the operational level. The initiative aims to leverage the Coalition’s game-changer strategy: fostering women’s leadership for meaningful participation by emphasizing education and capacity development.
