Monitoring digital education policies in Latin America and the Caribbean
This article offers a brief introduction to digital education policy monitoring The information is organized into four major interrelated analytical axes digital inclusion policies digital policies to enhance the quality of learning policies focused on students learning digital skills and policies focused on digital competencies for teachers These topics do not cover all the possible dimensions of analysis in the implementation of digital education policies but they are key elements for sectoral monitoring After addressing some main concepts we will describe the availability of data and indicators for each axis and present some of the most relevant challenges we face today

Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) in Latin America and the Caribbean: challenges and lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic
What was the state of the EMIS in Latin America and the Caribbean when the COVID19 pandemic hit education systems What changes did they undergo to respond to the emerging needs in this context What were the main conditions for the sustainability of the changes faced by the EMIS of the region and what prospects for continuity can be projected In order to address these questions this publication presented in the Regional Forum on Education Policy in 2021 draws on UNESCOs monitoring of the impact of the COVID19 pandemic on education as well as on the experience and information systematized within the Community of Data Specialists for Educational Planning a community of practice launched in July 2021 by the Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean OREALCUNESCO Santiago and the Latin America Office of the International Institute for Educational Planning IIEP of UNESCO

Webinar: Nominal student registers. Uses in educational planning
This webinar addresses the use of nominalised student registers to inform educational planning in Latin American and Caribbean countries It will explore how these registers enable the creation of new educational policies allowing for detailed monitoring of student trajectories the development of early warning systems and a crosssectoral approach to inclusion challenges among others Experts will share national experiences and reflect on the benefits challenges and applications of these systems Lessons learned from these experiences will help identify key factors that have facilitated their implementation and may guide the path for other countries
