Governance
The United Nations has designated UNESCO as the lead agency for the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), inviting all Member States, UN specialized agencies, observers of the General Assembly, and organizations across academia, civil society, the private sector, and beyond to join in celebrating 2025 as the IYQ.
The coordination of the Year is managed by the IYQ Secretariat, co-convened by UNESCO and the American Physical Society (APS). A global effort, the IYQ global fund, supports international coordination and events and is overseen by the IYQ steering committee. This committee includes representatives from the IYQ founding partners and leaders from universities, research institutions, scientific societies, governments, and industries worldwide. Together, they aim to highlight the transformative potential of quantum science and technology on a global scale.
