Capacity Building for Gansu
The Chinese version of "Cities, Culture, Creativity" was published under the framework of Gansu Revitalization and Innovation Project. The publication served as a key material for the "Cities, Culture, Creativity" framework capacity building workshop held in Lanzhou, Gansu during 12-13 March 2023.
The COVID-19 has had a deep impact on the cultural sector, yet it has also revealed the power of cultural and creative industries as a resource for city recovery and resilience. More generally, cities are hubs of the creative economy and have a critical role to play in harnessing the transformative potential of cultural and creative industries through policies and enabling environments at the local level.
A comprehensive capacity building programme, consist of capacity building workshops and hands-on interventions, under the principles of the 鈥淐ities, Culture, and Creativity鈥 (CCC) Framework developed by UNESCO and the World Bank and the UNESCO cultural conventions, will be conducted in Gansu to support the 7 counties/cities in unlocking the power of cultural and creative industries for sustainable urban development, city competitiveness, and social inclusion. Special attention on gender balance during the workshops will be paid to ensure gender equality in the project implementation.
The Project collaborates with 3 Category II Centres鈥, and to develop courses and capacity building workshops for training local stakeholders to enhance local capacities to implement heritage-based tourism and creative industries.
