Skills Development
Guided by the Afghanistan Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Strategy 2020- 2024, UNESCO supports and advances the formal, non-formal, and informal TVET sub-sectors in Afghanistan. UNESCO also provides targeted support to institutes and vocational training centers (VTCs) towards demand-driven, quality, and market-oriented TVET service delivery with a focus on entrepreneurship.
Under the community-based literacy classes mentioned above, pre-vocational skills development is being provided to over 25,000 illiterate and semi-literate youth and adults (over 60% female) in 20 provinces of Afghanistan. UNESCO also supports Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by assessing the status of TVET in Afghanistan and, if the situation allows, improving the TVET quality, and data management.
