The Archives of AntonÃn Dvořák
The Archives of AntonÃn Dvořák encompass the documentary heritage of AntonÃn Dvořák (1841–1904), one of the most prominent and globally renowned composers of the 19th century. Unique and irreplaceable, the documents comprised therein contain a distinctive and singular composer's reflection of the contemporary cultural world and serve as an important testimony to the evolution of the society. They include the majority of Dvořák's autographs, important copies of his compositions authenticated by him and important first editions of his works. The collection of Dvořák's correspondence and other written documents such as personal and official documents, as well as iconographic documents, diplomas and certificates of honorary memberships are of great importance. The archives bear outstanding testimony to the musical culture and the position of an artist in the second half of the 19th century which was a crucial phase in the evolution of the modern world.
