Freedom of Expression and Safety of Journalists Online Courses
UNESCO and partners offer courses to train journalists, judicial operators, UN staff, civil society and other actors to increase their understanding on international standards on freedom of expression, access to information and press freedom; the complexity of attacks against journalists and the evolving challenges to their safety. As the UN agency in charge of promoting the safety of journalists and combatting impunity of attacks against them, UNESCO courses are also capacity building resources to enable a safer environment for journalists to work.

Global multilingual MOOC for judicial actors
UNESCO and the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford, will soon be launching a new version of a global multilingual Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for judicial actors on the international and regional standards on freedom of expression and the safety of journalists.
The course will be available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Portuguese.
This free, five-week online course will run between 29 May and 30 June 2023.

UNESCO and the United Nations System Staff College course
This free self-paced online course is open to different UN stakeholders, but is particularly aimed at UN Resident Coordinators, Human Rights Advisors and UN Country Teams. The modules also include issues such as how to address hate speech and disinformation while respecting international human rights standards; the role of media during elections; and the United Nations human rights monitoring mechanisms.
