Educational urgency
We are experiencing the greatest educational crisis in the last 100 years. The impact of COVID-19 has been especially severe in Latin America and the Caribbean, the most unequal region in the world, affecting more than 170 million students, who have lost an average of 1.5 years of schooling.
Before the pandemic, the region was already facing a serious learning crisis. Data from UNESCO麓s Latin American Laboratory for the Evaluation of the Quality of Education (LLECE) state that in the region more than 40% of third grade students in Reading and Mathematics do not reach the minimum level of competences, and more than 60% of sixth grade students do not reach it in Language, Mathematics and Sciences.
Our focus:
- Secure basic learning.
- Strengthen teachers' capacities.
- Support student鈥檚-emotional well-being.
- Bridge the digital gap.
- Provide students tools for employability.
Our priority is the recovery of learnings and the transformation of Education, to ensure the right to education and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal for Education (SDG4). This, to guarantee an equitable, inclusive and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities."
