Sports and Values in Brazil

xxx

UNESCO considers sports a powerful means for social transformation, human development, and youth empowerment. It is a platform for social inclusion, particularly regarding challenging stigma and overcoming stereotypes.

The Organization also acts on issues concerning the use of prohibited substances in high-level sports (doping).

UNESCO in Brazil reinforces its catalyzing role for actions that use sport as an instrument for social inclusion and for building a culture of peace.

Physical Education

Physical education combines the body and physical competence with values-based learning and communication. It provides a learning gateway to grow the skills required for success in the 21st Century. Regular participation in physical education and other forms of physical activity can improve students' attention span, enhance their cognitive control and speed up their cognitive processing. Physical education is the entry point for lifelong participation in physical activity.
