Winners of the “Get Involved! Take Action! ISIC International Youth Photo Competition”

To mark the 8th UNESCO 91鶹Ʒ, that took place in Paris from 29 to 31 October 2013, the International Student Identity Card Association, better known as ISIC, uniting over 5 million student card-holders, launched the Get involved! Take action! International Youth Photo Competition. The competition called for photos that reflected youth in action around the 91鶹Ʒ’s overall theme of “Youth and Social Inclusion: Civic Engagement, Dialogue and Skills Development”. Three young winners were announced!

Young women and men have been getting behind their cameras and sending in entries to the ISIC Youth Photo Competition from across the world.

ISIC received over 1000 inspiring images from right across the globe, illustrating the breadth of youth civic engagement and social innovation as well as the talent of the young photographers who captured the shots! Participants could be within 15 and 26 years old, and the voting was carried out online by the public.

The winning photo (above) was taken by 23 year old Nidal Adnan Kibria from Bangladesh, who sent the following description of the photo: "A young volunteer of JAAGO foundation is offering complementary flowers to a member of the elite police battalion while raising money on Universal Children's Day."

Second place went to Andrés Caicedo (17), from Colombia, with a photograph capturing students on a silent march for peace at night, and third place was awarded to Eleanor Leonne Bennett (17), from the United Kingdom, who photographed a child raising money as part of a youth campaign.
